IN THE NEWS
“There’s some incredibly creative and resourceful people out there and the folks at LEGO know it. That’s why they encourage their fanatics to come up with unique and innovative new toy designs through the LEGO Ideas initiative and one fan built an entire Tool stage set with excruciating detail.
Keep in mind, this is just in the idea phase — the Tool LEGO set is not available anywhere and is currently not being manufactured. This elaborate project was conceived and created by a user named “blocksandmocs,” who said the following about the whole concept…”
“It’s no secret that we all had to wait a really bloody long time for the new Tool album, Fear Inoculum. But you know what might have helped passed the time during those 13 years? If we had a LEGO set of the band to play with.
Through LEGO Ideas – an initiative to “share your cool creations and creativity, enter prize competitions, showcase your proposals for new LEGO Ideas sets and vote for awesome models dreamt up by your fellow fan designers” – one very creative fan has uploaded a pitch for a Tool LEGO set, with a customised stage set-up featuring Danny Carey, Adam Jones, Maynard James Keenan and Justin Chancellor. There’s some incredible attention to detail in regards to Danny’s drums in particular.”
“Are you instantly in love with the idea of a Tool-themed Lego set? Patience, friends: it could well become a reality, but you’ll need to wait at least 480 days for it. In Tool Time — those of us accustomed to waiting 13 years for a new album — that’s, like, only a few hours! No biggie!
So: Danish toy manufacturer Lego has an initiative involving fans and collectors called Lego Ideas, in which they invite the general public to “share your cool creations and creativity, enter prize competitions, showcase your proposals for new LEGO Ideas sets and vote for awesome models dreamt up by your fellow fan designers.”
“A portion of Lego’s website is dedicated to letting fans submit their own ideas. These ideas are then voted on and potentially adopted as new products from Lego. One Tool fan on the site named blocksandmocs decided that there needs to be a Tool Lego set. After seeing what they’ve done, I think we can all agree that there definitely does.
The petition for the set currently has over 2,000 supporters and just under 480 days left. Check it out here and definitely try to support this any way you can. Who knows, maybe we’ll even have a new Tool album again before this hits shelves! I mean, we won’t, but maybe.
Ready to rock n’ roll?
This project is a tribute to the legendary rock band-Tool.”
“A Tool fan has designed a LEGO set that is as precise and intricate as the band’s music. And with your help, it has a chance to be a real LEGO product.
As part of the LEGO Ideas initiative, an entrant who goes by the user name “blocksandmocs” has created a LEGO set featuring figures of all four band members and an impressive stage setup.
Singer Maynard James Keenan is depicted in the spiky mohawk look and outfit he’s been sporting during the band’s tour in support of their new album, Fear Inoculum.
Drummer Danny Carey is represented wearing a Los Angeles Lakers uniform with Kobe Bryant’s “24” on the front. ”
